Troon Golf Academy Lake of Isles offers four levels of instruction specifically designed to take young golfers along a developmental pathway to playing their best golf.

3 Day Junior Spring Training Camp

The Academy Instruction team will be conducting a junior golf camp from Tuesday April 12th to Thursday April 14th. The camp will run from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm the first two days and 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on day three. The instruction will include extensive video analysis, instruction on all long game and short game skills, and on course instruction. For more details please contact the Academy.


Sunday Summer Junior Clinic Program

This program is for children aged 5-11 to introduce them to the game of golf. These 4 week programs are offered every month from May through September. Junior golfers are introduced to core movement skills essential to playing golf through a series of fun activities and games. Studenst will also learn the basics for full swing, pitching, chipping and putting in a fun, friendly, positive environment. Groups are formed by age and ability with the class maintaining a low teacher to student ratio to ensure plenty of one-on-one time for each junior golfer.

Clinic Times: Sunday 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Price: $15.00 per week OR $50.00 for the 4 week month.

Junior Intermediate Program

 

The Junior Intermediate Program is designed for junior golfers aged 10 to 17. The Program is a comprehensive and systematic approach to training, skill improvement and personal development for serious golf athletes who are interested in exploring competitive golf. Both boys and girls are welcome to participate.

This program is offered every second Sunday, May through September and includes range instruction covering fundamentals of the full swing and all aspects of the short game, rules & etiquette, as well as on-course instruction.

Week One - Range and short game instruction
Week Two - On course instruction

Class times: Two Sunday's per month, 3 pm to 5 pm
Price: $120 per month OR $600.00 for the 6 month program


Competitive Golfer Program

The Competitive Golfer Program (CGP) is a professional coaching and training program for aspiring high performance golfers ages 14-18, who are just starting their tournament career. Participants will be guided through the skills required to play tournament golf including tournament scheduling, tournament preparation, pre-tournament warm up routines, course management and post round analysis. Both young men and women are welcome to participate in the program and is ideal for any young golfer who is interested in developing inro a top level junior golfer and advancing to the NCAA level or beyond.


High Performance Program
 
The High Performance Program (HPP) was established in 2008 as our highest level program. It is a professional coaching and training program for aspiring high performance golfers ages 15-19, who are looking to become the best player they can be and have the goal of playing college golf or beyond. The HPP provides a comprehensive and systematic approach to training, competing and skill development. The HPP is available by invitation only to junior golfers who have completed a minimum of one year in either the Junior Scholarship Program or the Competitive Golfer Program.

Participants will be instructed on the technical, physical and mental demands required to play golf at highest level. Each participant will receive opportunities for regular instruction, within a program designed around the needs of each individual. The program is extremely successful and it yeilds results. Participating athletes experience tremendous growth as young adults and have achieved many outstanding feats as competitive golfers. The HPP prepares participants for college golf and beyond.

Both elite programs are offered each year from April through October and are lead by by Director of Instruction Derek Hooper. Both young men and women are welcome to participate.

Students will receive the following:

  • An initial game assessment – video swing analysis, physical screening and exercise program, skills testing and equipment assessment.
  • Twice monthly practice and training sessions with Academy Instructors that will include feedback on swing technique, short game skills and on course skills.
  • Complimentary “standby” playing privileges on Lake of Isles North Course and reduced fees for accompanied adult guests for the duration of the program.
  • Unlimited use of the Lake of Isles practice facility for the duration of the program.
  • A written “Performance Plan” that clearly outlines goals and planned action for improving the students game.
  • A golf specific physical screening and exercise program which will be re-assessed and updated monthly.
  • A personal journal to record all practice and coaching sessions, skills tests, weekly schedule and competitive rounds analysis.

Do you have what it takes? Program registration prerequisites are listed below. This program is designed to provide aspiring high performance athletes with a professional approach to their development as golfers and people. This program is suitable for individuals who:

  • Are golf athletes motivated to improve their skills and performance;
  • Are committed to being the best that they can be on and off the course;
  • Take responsibility for their actions and are “coachable”;
  • Do not abuse alcohol and/ or illegal drugs;
  • Have positive attitudes;
  • Respect and honor the game;
  • Give scholastics top priority; and
  • Play for the love of the game and the challenges that it presents.
In 2011 there were 23 athletes enrolled across both programs. Through their hard work and adherence to the plans we collectively put in place, they achieved the following results:

  • 17 Tournament wins in local and regional Junior Tournaments
  • 83 top 10 placings in local and regional Junior Tournaments
  • Players averaged a drop of 5.5 strokes off their scoring average
  • Players increased their birdies per round by 77%
  • Players decreased their 3 putts per round by 57%
  • Players increased their greens in regulation per round by 25%

How do you register?

All athletes and parents/guardians must first meet with Director of Instruction, Derek Hooper, to discuss the possibility of enrolling in either the Competitive Golfer Program or the High Performance Program. Space is limited.

Price: $195 per month. Requires a 6 month commitment.
